We'll call this our study model. This build was the Testers Gee Bee Racer set. I don't think it has been made since 1991 which might explain the fragility of the details. The scale is also 1:48 so (as it is a small plane to begin with) it's a bit small - so no cockpit or real engine details to speak of. Not very many parts and the fit was reasonable. You have to design your own rigging. But this is a simple, fun set to mess with.
Morgen helped with the painting and jumped right in on hand lettering the numbers/letters and I drew the dice. We ran into some smudging problems due to overhanding - but it's too fun not to fly around the room!
We will be building the Williams Brothers set next - it is at a larger scale, has more detail and decals for the Gee Bee and Gee Bee R planes.
Some shots of our build - Ironman expected more.
Testors brand kit - you can find for under $10
Williams Brothers (brand) set - $25
